Ryan McDonald, BSc Eng., Managing Partner

Ryan is a Product Management and Product Marketing Strategist, with over 15 years of experience in identifying, developing, and successfully marketing new technology products – products which have generated over a billion in sales and which have been used by millions of people around the world. Companies Ryan has worked with include: GE, eThor, Guest-Tek, Poynt, Evoco, TransCanada, CoolIT and over 40 others. As a founder Ryan is a two time recipient of Deloitte’s Fast 50/500 Award given to the fastest growing technology companies in Canada. Ryan has been a lead product management consultant for Uncommon since its inception. Ryan brings a rare blend of technical, marketing and business understanding to his engagments. Prior to his product management consulting focus Ryan built several companies including an integrated marketing company with revenue in excess of $8 million per year and a web-based software development company.

Ryan has an Honours Electrical/Computer Engineering degree from Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario.

 

Jason Innes, MBA, P.Eng., Partner

Jason is a Product and Business Strategist with over 9 years of experience successfully conceiving, evaluating and developing new products as both a consultant and as a Product  Manager for successful technology companies including SaaS providers Neteller and Evoco. Jason was instrumental in building the product management discipline at Neteller (international online money transfer service) and as Product Manager for Payments helped launch several new payment options and foreign currencies (used by millions), increasing revenue over 25% in key markets. At Evoco (online construction management), Jason was involved in the conception, evaluation, development and launch of 5 core products in a 2 year period (used by clients such as Walmart and Lowe’s). Jason has been a key participant in the corporate strategy development and planning and obtained a Product Management Certificate from Pragmatic Marketing. Key to Jason’s success is his ability to combine his strong technical background with business fundamentals to create and launch great products that address clear market needs.
